On the other hand we could avail ourselves of Dennis's large shower, but he'll probably want to join us. Please add names below for the cold shower party! I see you are using a pseudonym for the erotica, Dani Ko, is there a reason for that? you write a wide variety of things as yourself. I have only ever written what calls to me - I am proud of my work (which does not mean I can boast about it without becoming a tongue-tied numpty)and I always will be. I honestly can't imagine writing anything other than what sings to me, even though it would be a lot more 'successful' if I could write more mainstream stuff.Sessha Battohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15569927397738788073noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2429560125838989988.post-47350820120024118252014-01-16T12:41:08.116+00:002014-01-16T12:41:08.116+00:00You're so right about the plethora of informat...You're so right about the plethora of information writers are given as well-meaning advice that inevitably much of it contradicts itself. So how to sift the good from the bad, the right from the wrong? Don't even try. We started writing with some sort of artistic vision in our heads, what it means to be a writer, how we aim to tell our stories, so as you say, just stick to that and you'll do just fine.

A line like "your retellings of Slovak myths in the voice of Raymond Chandler" in itself proves beyond any doubt that Dan Holloway is a writerSulci Collectivehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03293833259808943096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2429560125838989988.post-41780896306920684052014-01-16T11:48:47.512+00:002014-01-16T11:48:47.512+00:00Great post Dan. I wonder, though, how we can balance creative integrity and not compromising with being prepared to listen to what other people tell us about our writing. I probably wouldn’t pay much heed to someone who said ‘Write x because x sells,’ but if someone whose opinion I respected were to warn me that something didn’t work, or would be better if I did it some other way, I’d certainly listen.

I love ‘Self-publish with Integrity’, by the way! I only wish I’d read it before I started self-publishing...Mari Biellahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14221256993468150226noreply@blogger.com
