Sometimes it seems to me as though I'm surrounded by grumpy older people (which may be because I'm one myself!) and it can be a struggle to remain positive and full of hope - even though I've always thought of myself as an optimist. eBook publishing has - even with all the difficulties of coming to terms with a new way of doing things - given me a real buzz of pleasure over the past few months. You're so right - it's all about risk taking - believing, and hoping!Catherine Czerkawskahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14554969254207924049noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2429560125838989988.post-54922644775902410272011-09-22T09:43:41.811+01:002011-09-22T09:43:41.811+01:00I should have said DEBBIE (and Linda) thanks for t...I should have said DEBBIE (and Linda) thanks for the comment about the cover, and NICOLA, So do I etc! At one point in the conversation I asked where he came from and he said, 'Oh I spend most of my time travelling around. I've met a lot of people in a lot of places. I have to say the Norweigans really stand out.'. Later, when I saw the angel in the grey mac in Wim Wenders' 'Wings of Desire' I thought, 'That's him!'Pauline Fiskhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11826696982301252524noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2429560125838989988.post-14886073298552179482011-09-21T22:11:42.640+01:002011-09-21T22:11:42.640+01:00Great cover!Great cover!Debbie Bennetthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06761474820689143835noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2429560125838989988.post-47837434853634027332011-09-21T21:05:37.352+01:002011-09-21T21:05:37.352+01:00Pauline - I really really really want to know why ...Pauline - I really really really want to know why he thought you were a writer!Nicola Morganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12189894289540344094noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2429560125838989988.post-67749849805391811902011-09-21T13:01:39.151+01:002011-09-21T13:01:39.151+01:00Congratulations, Pauline - and what a wonderful an...Congratulations, Pauline - and what a wonderful and inspiring conversation.Linda Newberynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2429560125838989988.post-48252671699784228242011-09-21T12:17:00.366+01:002011-09-21T12:17:00.366+01:00Wonderful blog - really inspiring.

If he really despaired, he wouldn't have written. Writing - good writing - about despair stems from the hope that change is possible and the belief that it's necessary.

(Btw the cover for MIDNIGHT BLUE is fantastic.)Linda Gillardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05747108591927491742noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2429560125838989988.post-31674244092711372622011-09-21T12:06:32.372+01:002011-09-21T12:06:32.372+01:00Aren't conversations like that wonderful? Too much is too one-dimensional.

You've got me thinking now. "Of course there are loads of books about gap years" But other than Jo Carroll's Gap Years are Wasted on the Young, the only thing I could think of was The Beach - which is a very different kettle of fish!Dan Hollowayhttp://danholloway.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2429560125838989988.post-72969562687712382482011-09-21T11:02:47.601+01:002011-09-21T11:02:47.601+01:00Lovely post, Pauline, what an experience!
