I'm in the (very) early stages of a novel about a woman with mental health issues, in which I hope to explore her experience while normalising it too. I work (sometimes briefly) with young people experiencing mental health difficulties so it is great to have an insight into how they might be feeling (especially when I meet them - at their lowest). Not particularly aimed at authors, and probably not one for the boys, but could be a good book to add to your shelf?Katherine Robertshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17196712319655603442noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2429560125838989988.post-39179087512561995662017-01-04T15:53:19.989+00:002017-01-04T15:53:19.989+00:00Thank you for writing that, Ros, and the very best...Thank you for writing that, Ros, and the very best to you.Jan Needlehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15823078224282953782noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2429560125838989988.post-72902053144771429662017-01-04T12:59:16.551+00:002017-01-04T12:59:16.551+00:00Thank you for sharing your experience here - I thi...Thank you for sharing your experience here - I think talking about mental health issues is really important too, because it can help people going through it to feel less alone. That's why I write a bit about my own big dips on my blog, and have written about sibling suicide and bereavement in my YA novel Drift. We need to make these normal issues part of our normal conversation.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2429560125838989988.post-20290448884485843042017-01-04T12:16:23.589+00:002017-01-04T12:16:23.589+00:00Thanks for the honesty, Rosalie, and for such a po...Thanks for the honesty, Rosalie, and for such a powerful piece of writing. It was so direct, so unadorned but it conveyed very effectively the awfulness of what you go through. I'm lucky in that, while I have moments of feeling a fraud, shunning contact, making my own Sartrean hell, it's never to the extent that you have to endure. I hope the medication keeps on working and that you get plenty of moments of elevation to counterbalance the lows.Bill Kirtonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16345949773423764808noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2429560125838989988.post-29396687620189882222017-01-04T11:45:24.001+00:002017-01-04T11:45:24.001+00:00Thank you, Rosalie: a superb and inspiring post. I would say that it is like walking on ground that appears solid and strong but is, in fact, the thinnest ice over that deep, dark pit full of wet, cold, clinging mud. You never know at what step the ice will shatter and let you fall into the pit. It gets harder and harder to climb out.

Hoping that you climb out completely soon - and go on inspiring.Susan Pricehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07738737493756183909noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2429560125838989988.post-51055436511680326532017-01-04T08:38:25.439+00:002017-01-04T08:38:25.439+00:00A very interesting post and as Umberto says, inspi...A very interesting post and as Umberto says, inspiring.
