I haven't yet got very far but, knowing that I'd be reviewing it at some point, one of the questions I asked myself was 'How am I going to describe his voice?' The style seems artless but obviously isn't, the meaning of each sentence is clear and they accumulate to reinforce and deepen the import of what you're saying. In short, what I'm saying is - whatever you're doing, it's working. So keep on doing it.Bill Kirtonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16345949773423764808noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2429560125838989988.post-59435106803444317812012-11-16T15:27:53.558+00:002012-11-16T15:27:53.558+00:00John, you have such a wonderful turn of phrase (pe...John, you have such a wonderful turn of phrase (perhaps more so because, having herad you speak, I can always imagine you speaking your posts).

I think I was struck by sitting in the same seat I was sitting in when I both made the decision to self-publish and typed the opening pages of the novel. Yes.
I've calibrated and orientated myself by your star more than once myself, and not been led wrong.John A. A. I get an awful lot of crap thrown at me because of (some of) what I write, and my response has always been - carry on. I went to Dan's Manchester gig, as he says, and there were people there doing just that, in whatever form. I loved it, and I loved them for doing it. Please carry on, sirs and madams. I agonised over a manuscript that I have just completed - where did it fit? would it alienate this demopgrpahic, that demogrpahic,? Should I tone down my cycnicism - will younger readers understand it? Etc etc etc. But in the end, it's the book I wanted to write and it's in my particular voice, and I enjoyed it - I hope it does ok (Of course, I want to write a bestseller!). But really what came out was me - and that is the nub of it all.

GeorgeGeorge Fripleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03804403713222710678noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2429560125838989988.post-82121648950084999882012-11-16T05:22:50.627+00:002012-11-16T05:22:50.627+00:00Well said, sir.
