A book...You hit the nail right on the head, Andrew. A book as a creative act of storytelling - as literature, high or low, if you will - bears little resemblance to dragon fodder and should not be judged as same - particularly by authors and readers. When we take the historic opportunity offered us by technology and become our own independent publishers - we can, as you say, at least give it a go, and possibly reap greater rewards. We don't need Philistines who deign to root our works from their slush piles. We find proper, intelligent people to judge our works and give us feedback candidly, as we wish, and then go forth, offering our works directly to our readers, without throwing our manuscripts into the hog pit of corporate publishing, or the "dragon's den" or "shark tank" whatever one wants to call it. Might as well play the lottery as do that - and you would not judge your merits on winning or losing, at least.Umberto Tosihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04939504157464234443noreply@blogger.com
