I don't seem to find time to use the free days I'm entitled to on select and keep getting fed up with amazon promoting agented books in that white glove thing or paid promotions on various things. paying to promote free books clearly worked really well for you and I'm v pleased for you!Lydia Bennethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09328239009863878547noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2429560125838989988.post-69990833126624515162014-03-31T17:13:00.441+01:002014-03-31T17:13:00.441+01:00Thanks for the comments/thoughts!Thanks for the comments/thoughts!Jan Ruthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16016647223297254901noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2429560125838989988.post-41307669351374869622014-03-31T15:34:30.900+01:002014-03-31T15:34:30.900+01:00Nick, in my case, I get reviews for free downloads...Nick, in my case, I get reviews for free downloads, though I agree that a very small percentage of the total number of downloads actually get read. (To be fair, I only read a small percentage of books that I buy, electronically or otherwise.) In fact, I've even had a couple of emails from people offering to pay me, but I always refuse - and ask for review instead!

Leehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13770069472552779217noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2429560125838989988.post-2640090325240569782014-03-31T12:47:50.859+01:002014-03-31T12:47:50.859+01:00Jan, this is yet another spur to make me get up of...Jan, this is yet another spur to make me get up off my backside and DO SOMETHING. Thanks for the Facebook info especially . I haven't got a Facebook author page and should have as a matter of urgency, especially as my once thriving website is now fairly moribund. I have mixed feeling about free promotions. When we did our great AE giveaway in 2011 (God, was it that long ago?) the one book I put in did a roaring 'trade' and got to the top of at least two US ranking lists. Did this translate into sales? Did it heck as like.
Dennis Hamleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15781139870037634374noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2429560125838989988.post-63670273101532230502014-03-31T10:57:24.940+01:002014-03-31T10:57:24.940+01:00Even more interestingly, I've tried free promo...Even more interestingly, I've tried free promo days with no publicity at all, and had similar download numbers to when I've used all the whistles and bells, tweets and blasts. Makes one think.

But I do share your doubts that free books ever get read. I wonder if even one in a hundred free downloads is actually read. For instance, I'm pretty sure that nearly all my reviews came from people who paid for my book, rather than downloaded it for free.Nick Greenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08191176209084540085noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2429560125838989988.post-46296980559520366152014-03-31T10:03:51.341+01:002014-03-31T10:03:51.341+01:00Jan, thank you for this!
