Granny Did It! :Misha Herwin

On Monday I published “New Beginnings at Rosa’s” my first totally independent venture, when I managed the whole process, from formatting the ebook and paperback to designing the cover and uploading to Amazon myself.

It wasn’t that I didn’t have offers from friends to help me along the way but I was determined to show myself that I could do it and one of the phrases that kept me going was  “Granny did it!”

This dated from years ago when I used to take my granddaughter Maddy to nursery. She had one of those state of the art buggies with the slot in fastenings that are a total nightmare for any grandparent with even slightly arthritic fingers. The first challenge was always fastening her in, the second was releasing her when we arrived and then when we got home, if I was picking her up as well, there was the struggle to fold up said buggy so it could be put away under the stairs and not have to take up any room in their narrow hallway.

Throughout the whole procedure, Maddy would watch me intently, luckily she was not one of those toddlers that resist being put in their buggies, and on days when I finally achieved all three tasks, she would fling her arms into the air and declare “Granny did it!”

Holding the proof copy of “New Beginnings at Rosa’s” those are the words I whispered to myself. In spite of everything else that has been going on in my life over the past eighteen months, I did it. And although there were moments when I was well and truly tempted, I am so glad I didn’t give up, because the sense of achievement has given me a much needed boost to my confidence. Once again I feel like a writer and it’s spurred me on to start submitting short stories again and kickstarted ideas for new projects. I’m also enjoying putting the word out there that book 2 in the Rosa’s series is now available. https://amzn.eu/d/i8ngBo9

Well done Misha for keeping going despite all the challenges that you've been having in the last couple of years. So nice too that you've tied it in with being a grandparent. That must have been a lovely feeling when Maddy shouted out her enthusiasm for what you've achieved.
