Fun with Anansi - Lynne Garner
A few months ago I published an eBook called Anansi - The Trickster Spider which is a retelling of eight traditional African stories. Since publishing this title we have had consistent sales to adults who want to share these stories with their children. Our buyers have not only been parents and grandparents but people who work with children. So last month we decided to build a website that would provide activities relating to the eight stories included in the book. These will be free to anyone who purchases a copy of the book. So for the last month I have been creating:
- Colouring pages
- Templates for dancing puppets
- Templates for moving puppets
- Word searches
- Crossword puzzles
- Instructions for games
- Fact sheets about the many animal characters
- Quiz sheets
Whilst I continue to come up with further ideas we have a web designer creating our website. As this will take a little time and kids across the country have another week off school I wanted to share a couple of the downloads with you today. They are from the story 'Anansi and the Tommy' and as you will see are Hippo themed.
So if you have bored kids and want to keep them occupied please feel free to print off the files below.
To print off:
- Click on the image you wish to print
- Right click
- Click on - save linked file to "downloads" or where ever you wish to save
- Go into file and press print
- Click print preview to ensure it fills entire page
The hippo activity sheet above can be used to create either a jumping jack, attached to the front of a card using double sided sticky pads or attached to sticks to create a puppet - as shown below:
The next is a simple word search:
I hope you enjoy!
A note on copyright:
Please be aware the copyright remains with myself and Mad Moment Media Ltd. You are more than welcome to print off as many times as you wish and share the paper versions with family and friends. However please respect the time and effort that has gone into the creation of these and do not pass on in electronic form, pass off as your own or place anywhere for resale. These are offered as a thank you to my readers who support me by buying my books.
